sprinklers and pot lights

i always thought the minimum distance from the pot lights to the sprinkler head has to be 12 inches, today someone was saying it should be 18 inches. Any feedback?

I assume that a pot light is a recessed fixture.
I have never heard of any requirement for distance from a sprinkler head.
This might make sense for a surface mounted fixture that could interfere with spray pattern if it was too low and too close.

I believe there is a requirement..I will ask the Fire Marshal!
