This Square D breaker uses rating columns to set the circuit breaker trip values. The trip amperage can be seen at the end of the column thru an opening on a face plate for each pole. However, I am unsure how to find the instantaneous setting on the trip column. Can it be seen by removing the 2 screws that hold the face plate on? or does the rating column need to be removed to see/change the instantaneous setting?

I have searched the web and have found pictures of the rating columns, SQD literature on changing out a rating column but nothing that clearly shows the instantaneous setting.

The Instantaneous setting is not on the Rating Column. That old style column was not much more than a resistor on a stick.
