Square Electrical Sleeves

I have a client that wants to use square electrical sleeves to feed some electrical cords through from one room to another. Does anyone have any recommendations? The sleeves will be going though a normal stud wall so no fire rating necessary on the sleeves. The sleeves have to be approximately 6"x10" (WxH) in size.

Cords?:happyno:

400.8(2)

As mentioned you shouldn't be passing flexible cords through walls anyway, but if there is a legitimate reason to do so and the size you are mentioning, why not just frame the opening and either drywall it or wood case it? Get the carpenters to do it if needed.

Why not? Well, because of 400.12(2) and / or 400.12(3).
I did say if there was a legitimate reason to do so.

OP never mentioned what these "electrical cords" specifically are and such a general statement leaves the application wide open to what it may be. If they are Art 400 cords used for general lighting/power, then this is probably a no go. If there is some reason to run whatever he has through a wall - I gave an answer to his question.

Thanks for everyone's input. I'll clarify with the client what exactly he is going to pass through these sleeves and post on this thread. His intent is to put the sleeves between a room with a raised floor and a room without a raised floor to get some cords/wiring/cabling?? to some equipment. This definitely sounds like it may be a concern with NEC article 400.8, therefore I'll need to get the specifics on his plans. I'll keep you posted...

. . . . NEC article 400.8, . . .

If you quote the NEC, "Uses Not Permitted" is in 400.12, in the 2017 NEC. There were editorial changes across the Articles to standardize the Rule numbers to xxx.10 "Uses Permitted", and to xxx.12 "Uses Not Permitted. The editorial changes were completed after the 2014 NEC.

There is actually no Rule 400.8, at all, in the 2017 NEC Article 400.

To be accurate for your client, you should find the Code adopted into effect by the Jurisdiction that the building is geographically within, and cite the Rule from that edition of the NEC.

We are under NEC 2014 in my jurisdiction. So NEC 400.8 "Uses Not Permitted" is the correct section in my situation.

My client has agreed to route only CAT 6 cables through the sleeves in question and not any flexible cords or cables. So back to my original question does anyone know of any square sleeve products approximately 6"x10" in size? Or would providing an opening in the wall of the aforementioned size be the best option?

Googling found this in 15 seconds. Also, take a look associated products under the main product description for other types.
