I'm our vehicle systems I design, we never have a problem with parallel return paths becuase our Neutral bus and Ground bud in the panel are isolated. It acts as a sub panel and the Generator has the Neutral and ground combined. Or in the case of shore power, the Neutral and Ground our combined at the main panel you are getting power from.
Anyway my question is this, when you guys wire up a stand-by gen in a residence won't there be parallel return paths if the gen has a combined Neutral-Ground and the panel has combined Neutral-ground bus. In fact as I look around the web I see most places you only need a two pole switch and the Neutral is wired straight to the Neutral bus. Wouldn't this provide multiple return paths.
Thanks
