start time

8-5 for many of the same reasons mentioned already. Alot of our work is direct customer contact oriented, whether at our shop or service calls/installations. If I am working new construction, as I am right now, I will go in as early as 6 and go home depending on workload.

Open Shop- 5:30am
Actually sit down at desk- 7ish
Lunch- sometimes
Leave- 4:30 on a good day, but it not unusual to work till 6pm

I get more done before 8am than gets done the rest of the day.

It all depends upon what job I'm doing. And sometimes the weather. :) I did a fairly big remodel last year where I tryed to time it so I was never there when the customer was. A realy sweet lady who never shut up and made it hard to concentrate and get anything done. I wish that one had been a T&M!

We do a lot of service type work and start at 7:30. Trucks roll out around 8 after they are cleaned/restocked and everybody knows where they are going.
Exactly the same here. That gives you 1/2 hour to stock and red up the truck, finish your Starbucks, and get your marching orders.

On my jobsite we just changed to 6:30 start time and leave at 3:00. Working in the office, I come in at 7:30 and leave 4:30, sometimes later. But I have to deal with vendors and such and a lot of them are not available till 8-9 am

Sometimes 6AM. Usually 7 on a regular commercial or new resi job. More like 7:30 or 8 if it's in an occupied residence or service call.

End time depends on how many times the phone rings during the day. 2AM is not unheard of.
