Good morning,
Question / thoughts: Looking to avoid a possible issue in a CI/D2 space (warehouse that will be storing propane filled tanks). The Mech contractor will be installing 18' dia. high volume, low speed destratification fans being up at the structure, with a VFD and speed control. The fan cut sheet only states the motors are rated for CI/D2 (I feel the entire assembly should be rated... the cut sheet does not state that). The blades have plastic directional air flow tips, and the blades themselves are aluminum alloy. My concern is these fans could create SE.
Looking for options to mitigate SE, and or opinions if this indeed could be an issue. I am unaware of any code related verbiage (but please Enlighted me if you know of any). It may be possible the low speed of the fans will not cause an issue.... but my initial thought is adding additional grounding (no cages around the blades), I do see coating products that apparently reduce SE.
Any experience with SE and or thoughts?
TIA!
