Any body know the requirement about a recess light in a "steam shower" ? My first time wiring a house with one.

I just install a wet location trim... thats it. IMO, its not required, unless subject to shower spray, but just makes sense. You would need a damp location trim otherwise....

Check out 410.4 (D)

If that can is located in the zone--8' then I bet most inspectors would turn down an open trim. Standard shower trim on a recessed can works fine.

Thanks for the reply s. Some post bring up another question, in another house with 10 foot ceilings, recess light over the combination tub / shower, would an open trim & BR30 bulb meet code (the shower head in this application is @ 5 feet since it is in children's bath).

Yes that would be compliant. You will probably fail and have to fight to keep it so be prepared. Most ec as well as inspectors do not kbnow that is compliant.

I have had an inspector question an open can over a hydromassage tub- no shower. They did not like it but it is compliant.
