Hey guys, since we are talking about these raised covers where the devices are mounted with small screws & nuts I have a question. Are there any easy ways to secure the small screws & nuts? I keep dropping one or the other. And, you might think that Raco would at least make the screw a Phillip's head instead of just a strait slotted screw.

I press a nut to the back of the yoke and thread the screw in from the front. The one's I don't like are the duplex covers that are stamped into the cover that you have to break off and finagle over the yoke. They never fit.

Here is one with the holes closed

Haven't seen any with KO mounting holes for years now they were a PITA.

It must be an old photo since you can't mount a receptacle by just the center screw for years now.
I believe you can if the receptacle is rated for it, the cheap (less than a dollar) receptacles never are.

My solution already been given - press the nut with your finger against the back of the receptacle ear, then align with the cover and insert screw.

If we are worried about people sticking objects in those holes we may just need to go with a tamper resistant design that will not allow anything to be inserted without inserting into two holes at a time:cool:

Kind of ...
