They key to having room in the van is not to carry stuff that does not get used. My rule of thumb is if it sits in the van over 6 months, then it probably doesn't need to go every place i go.

Did anyone else mention shoe covers? People are increasingly fussy about floors and carpets. Some insist you take your shoes off. If you have covers, most will be ok with that. Can buy them at medical supply stores. Usually called clean room slippers. Ladder cushions for your ext ladder or clean rags will be handy sometimes.

Stock all the other stuff and be sure to have a handful of 3 and 4 inch 10-32 and 10-24 bolts. They are harder to find than 6-32 or 8-32, but are sometimes needed for ceiling fan boxes with some types of hanger brackets. A few 4 to 6 inch lag screws are also good, and some long deck screws. Keep a few pieces of 2x4 and pieces of strut. May need them to hang a fan box or reinforce one. Washers washers for all these too, and nuts for the 10-24 and 10-32.

Variety boxes of 6/32 and 8-32 screws are great. Lengths from 1/2 to 2 or 3 inch. Keep a few nuts and washers for these as well.

Carry a good club and tear gas for dogs. Most you see will be OK, but some are dangerous and you need protection. Also a longer club for snakes. I see copperheads sometimes, have killed one that was aggressive. Have seen many others I didn't bother.

Mud boots for digging in the yard. Rainsuit for emergency outdoor work in rain.

Headlamp makes attic and crawlspace work easier. Good LED headlight costs 10-15 and runs about a month on set of batteries.

1/4 inch poly tubing from Big Blue is the best thing I ever saw to firm up a device not gripping the wall. Cut it slightly longer than needed, thread screws through and it will securely hold the device. With this, you sometimes need fire rings too, also called depth rings.
