Store Equipment Pass thru circuits

I have attached a couple of screen shots showing a floor box with (2) receptacles. One of the receptacles feeds piece of equipment several feet away with a flexible cord passing through another piece of equipment. Seems high irregular to me.

That looks like a flexible cord will be hidden behind drywall. Absolutely not permitted. Don't have my code book handy, but someone will likely add the citation.

Thanks Charlie I always respected your thoughts. The equipment is actually free standing on the floor in a Mobil on the run gas station.

How is the flex cord routed? Is it essentially a regular plug and cord connection with the cord running along the floor?

I believe it runs from the floor mounted duplex and the cord runs within another piece of equipment.
