Anyone know off hand where to find storefront receptacles or 'showcase' receptacles in the NEC 2002? Its for a mall store with storefront windows and a requiremnt for receptacles.

Re: Storefront or showcase receptacles

Isn't that for residential dwellings, or for both residential and commercial?

Re: Storefront or showcase receptacles

I wanna see the house with the showcase windows.

Somebody has alot of money.

Re: Storefront or showcase receptacles

rcarroll is correct,

210.62 is for Show windows.

I have never seen a show window in a residential dwelling unit.

Re: Storefront or showcase receptacles

Technically, what is a show window? Its really just a window, whether its a window with no curtain in a house or a window in a commercial space. I guess thats what I was getting at.

Re: Storefront or showcase receptacles

i might be wrong on this one but here it goes :

for storefront if i recalled right for each repecticale or outlet there is a 180 VA per yoke but being in storefront display i did see one art.[ not sure where i did found it either in NEC or FEC ] stated 360 VA per yoke.

please do correct me if i am wrong on this part

many thanks for your time

Merci , Marc

P.S. European verison are at 360 VA per yoke

They really need to deal with what is a lot like show windows but are no windows. They are show room floors with track lights that could add up fast. How about to the tune of 1000 or more 45 watt heads

Isn't that already addressed in 220.12(B) and 410.101(B)?

Re: Storefront or showcase receptacles

Your right but can you exsplain the differance between the 2.My thinking says we would need more on show room floor

Re: Storefront or showcase receptacles

Ryan J;

Thanks for head up with the VA rating but one thing it kinda bother me a bit. maybe other can join in with me if they want to but really my honest option i think 180 VA rating is kinda low for window display because ya never know if they will throw tons of light and they do change the display pretty regualr bais [ timming ] not only they used the lights but some case they used " antmation " robot kind thing you know

but I am used to the european regualtions because the europeans like to over do it with the display some case it get kinda out of hand with few items

thanks for the answer ryan

Merci , Marc

Re: Storefront or showcase receptacles

I an still a little unclear on what is really a show window? Is every fixed glass fronted store a show window? What about where the door(s) are and the fixed light above the door(s)? Does the ceiling height affect the show window?
Is it a show window if the space is occupied by an insurance agency? a bank? a retail outlet and what type of retail outlet? even if the zoning is the same for 3?
Thank you for your thoughts.

Show Window. Any window used or designed to be used for the display of goods or advertising material, whether it is fully or partly enclosed or entirely open at the rear and whether or not it has a platform raised higher than the street floor level.
