If doing this could be done cheap, then every stove would have it built in.

I have very basic Sears range it will shut the oven off after 8 hours, this really made the wife POed during her marathon Christmas baking sessions.

I don't know if it will shut the stove top, never tried it.

Maybe, but you bought it at some point. Don't most electric ranges have a red light on them that shows when any burner is on?
Im pretty sure they all do now. It stays lit as long as the top is hot/warm to the touch.

Those 240 volt contactors are expensive though, arent they??
It's the amps. Whats the kw of the range? Get over a 30A contactor and your looking at a couple bucks.

Stick this on your front door.

It's cheap and effective.

Its on a 50 amp breaker right now, so i guess its gonna cost me if i go this route.

Brother, A two pole 50a contactor with coil is not that much money, you

could probally pull one off an air conditioning unit gone bad. How much is the

house worth??

How about this:

Put a bowl on the top of the stove. Make a rule, anyone who turns the stove on first has to drop their keys in the bowl.

Usually it's pretty hard to leave without your keys.

This is how I solved the problem of forgetting to put deadfronts back on or close panels at customers homes.

And without burning your fingers picking the keys up! ;)
