Increase from my standard rate to make up for the loss of marking materials up.

I'd also be leery of them providing material unless this is cookie-cutter type work. Let 'em know up front that you're on the clock whether the material (or correct material) is on site or not.

well, electrician's are like fish, and market pricing determines a lot of what
you can charge... around here, $75 an hour for a guy with tools and a truck
is middle of the road....

so... i'd say... i'm $75 an hour, when do you want me to show up, and who
directs me in what tasks you wish done?

you want hourly, you get a skilled craftsman, with necessary equipment.
time starts when i get out of the truck, and ends when i leave.

nope...at that rate, time better include travel...

you want $1000/day....you better bill 13.3 hrs a day at $75/hr...unless you wanna work 18 hour days, you better bill for travel...and do a little double billing as well...

Just how long do they need the JW, the truck and tools? A long term contract is always a little cheaper than short term. If they are going to provide 40 hours+ a week for an extended period time then it's a different situation than than 20 hours a week for the next two weeks.

I would want to know their commitment to any venture before quoting any prices.

Not sure if sites are rural or not but around here I've drove 45 minutes to reach the site after I've turned off the paved road. In other words getting paid to travel is a must!
Make sure you've got insurance that will pay in case you knock a site off the air too, Telecom companies don't like losing air time.
Any ditching you do will have to be done very carefully also, they have grounds running everywhere and you have a good chance of hitting one.
And they don't want to hear about you have to turn a circuit off to work on something cause you don't work hot...........

This is what a American national facilities maintenance company is paying for an Electrician in Tacoma Washington

$95/Electrician $102/plumber $145/HVAC
Many companies don't care how many bodies the hourly covers; if you 'want' a helper, that's your problem.

They may be conceding that HVAC requires a helper whereas it's 'optional' for us and the other guys.

Your price should also depend on the amount of man hours as well the more hours the lower the rate

there is a job in my area 100,000 man hours of electrical the contractor was able to bid 46 dollars an hour for a 41 dollar package per man (labor only)

the lower the hours the higher the price

I've been getting alot of cooperate retail repair calls and they are asking for your my hourly rates. They want to put you in they're system as a vendor.....Im leary of them myself... I take this as they are anticipating that contractors are slow, and they are fishing for lower rates.....Frankly I price them higher than my regular local rates....

I got a call asking my price to change a ballast. I'm picturing a 20' ceiling with close shelves and customers in the way. I ask how high the ceiling is. They're a national outfit and they don't know how high the ceiling is. Without that information I don't know what the price is. That was the end of the conversation. I suppose I could have driven to the store to quote replacing one ballast. Do you think it would be a good plan to quote $400 for the first one and $40 for the second one?
