Strange POCO Requirement

Seems pointless but OK.

Many dwellings still can run fine on 100 amp service. Then limited load services can only need 30 amp or even less.

We just had to get a 3" die and cut it bigger. I think one time I used a hole saw.

It probably is these days. Wasn’t always.

Don't know about that...I had a wireless demand-reduction box on the AC 30 years ago.

Has anyone asked this PoCo about the requirement?

The issue we had with that was that is that it wouldn't physically fit. There wasn't enough depth in a standard 200A meter to get a lock nut on the threads.

I remember that so what I did was used a 3" Pvc coupling with a 3" Pvc box adapter and cut the lip off toward the back. I think the front was okay but maybe we cut the front also

So does your meter pan come with 3" ko's. My recollection was the 200 amp bases were only 2.5" or at least they used to be

Yes, they have 3" KO.

Our poco has had the 3” requirement since at least the 90’s. I still just put in a 2.5”, the linemen didn’t care. They ran a two inch up the pole. I did a service in south East Tennessee, the poco was “Volunteer” electric, they required a conduit from the house to the pad mount, and if more than two 90’s, they required a pull box. They did pull their own wire. I think it was three inch also, but it was into a 320 meter can, so three inch KO was available.

Around her most wan't 3" from meter to 10' above ground up the pole. The last one I did on Cape Cod they also wanted a hand hole for some unknown reason

they want a 1" conduit run in the same trench, stubbed up with 90s on each end.
What exactly is this and does anyone else have to do this?

I think they connect it to each neighbors bed rooms. There is better clarity than a string and cup.
