While I have never actually tried this, I have thought about using a table saw with the blade reversed so it will cut the insulation but not grab the Cu/AL conductor. I would set the blade deep enough to cut through all the insulation, I wouldn't be concerned about it slightly hitting the conductor. I would use fences on both sides of the blade but keep them just a little wider than the cables OD. If you could set it up so you also had a fence on top making a tunnel around the blade so much the better. Finally I would pull the cable and not push it if possible. You would have to push it in to start it, but then you could pull it after that. This would work especially well with long pieces of cable. You would also want to be sure the saw was secured in place or you might pull it over as you pull a long piece of 500 mcm through it.
