I don't know if they are still made and I'm not sure who made them (I think it was Vermont American); but it was a screwdriver with two keyhole type slots in the blade. One for #14 and one for #12. When I was doing a lot of house wiring I used it all the time.

I have seen damage to wire with just about every kind of tool or otherwise used to get it stripped. I have also seen many different means used to strip wire with no damage. The more experienced people will very seldom have to do any cutting and restripping. Very seldom is probably never in a few cases.
never seen those. seen the wire bending bar on them though

I have a set of 430 Channel locks with the rubber stripped off of the first 4" of the handles that I use for reaming EMT up to 1-1/4". Adjust the channel locks appropriatley for the size you are reaming. I think I bought that tool at a flea market in about 1985. the rubber was already stripped off of them. took me awhile to figure out why anybody would "ruin" a tool like that....lol. As far as the OP goes, I have always and will alway use a t-stripper, unless I drop it off the ladder.

... you can even chew the insulation off if you want.....

I would not recommend that. There are trace amounts of lead on those conductors and one can get lead poisoning by chewing on the wires and/or insulation.

I saw this topic and thought it was about the other kind of strippers, and they were holding Klein tools.

Oh well, just another disappointment in a long week.............

Yea, but what if I really want to? Sometimes it's hard to use a pair of strippers while holding a cigarette in one hand.

With that trace amount of lead along with the pcbs I have been exposed to over the years, I should have been dead about 20 - 25 years ago.

I quit chewing insulation becuase I don't like the taste and if you happen to get too much copper in your mouth it makes the cigarettes taste far too sweet.

Bob really want to laugh?????? i was trimming a custom with a few helpers one green.i had showed him how to hook up smokes on first day.Next house I put him on that task.i watched him looking at the box for a few mins. and asked him what he was doing. He answered trying to find the red wire.I got peeved and told him to come down.
Low and behold there was no red wire also no black or white just bare copper and wire nuts.I called the leadman of the rough crew and asked him what was up?Another one was his answer. He had a green as grass helper he showed how to use strippers to and had him cut in the smokes.Telling him to strip and twist the wires in the box fold them and go to next one till done.Well he stripped them alright to the sheathing.True story guys!!!Luckily the company policy was to leave a loop in the ceiling on all connections. It was frustrating when found but how can you get mad at a green helper for doing what he was told to do??He stripped and twisted and wire nutted as told :)

He was lacking one tool, commonsinse.Anyone that stupid needs to go back to fliping burgers. We had a rams helper few weeks ago that did not know how to tighten the screws on devices or hook all the wires to it.He is long gone.

You don't need wirenuts if you don't strip them, they're still insulated.

I prefer to use the klein combo reamer / conduit fitting driver over the channel locks, which is what I learned in my apprenticeship. I gotta confess I do also carry more nutdrivers than is probably good for me (except for teh 11/32 that I threw down the street, let someone else change a d*** ballast).

For stripping I prefer my Ideal super-T's, but I learned long ago to do it fast and clean with my kleins as well. I may have also occasionally used the disassembled metal top from a Bic lighter, but I can't confirm that.

If my dog is with me i just let him chew on it.
