When stut is mounted to concrete wall or slab to support conduits do you most often always use 1-5/8" regardless of size and qty of conduits?

I normally used 7/8" on walls. A trapeze depended on weight.

Is that because that is what is readily available?
Straps go in much easier especially with larger conduits. Less material to stock. 7/ 8 (or 3/4") is sometimes better when entering a panel because you don't "waste" real estate when the panel is only 6" deep.

I use deep strut whenever I can. Like Tom said, the anchors get in the way of the straps on shallow strut.

I only use shallow when I have to.

All of its expensive these days. 🙄

You guys must have been using two piece straps, I preferred one piece and very seldom had an issue with a fastener.

Do those work well with closely spaced raceways or are they also a PITA to get into the strut if you don't put them in as you add the raceways?
No their design is so that you can insert and turn so the raceways can be right against each other. The only space required is the thickness of the metal on the strap. They're great for adding a conduit between two existing conduits on a rack.

Those straps are great for raised floor work where the conduits tend to be close together and they are much faster than the 3 piece type. What I have that they're not good for is vertical risers on large conduits.

I did...I hated those one piece ones.
I loved them. Always hated fiddling with the screw and nut then it was a little better when they got rid of the nut but still more pieces than I wanted to mess with.

They just seemed to get rusty very quickly in the industrial facilities I worked at...same with all of the LFMC connectors other than the OZ Gedney ones.

I've wanted to try them, then I looked at the cost difference. Also... this is kinda bizarre... The company has a rule that if a part is no more than $1, you don't have to account for it. It's bad enough having to account for straps larger than 1/2", don't want to account for those, too! Same with strut nuts. The ones with springs are less than $1, but those nice ones with the plastic ears cost more.
