I have this discussion with a guy at work all the time. Isnt a lamp something you put on an end table. "honey turn on the lamp" or "honey turn on the fixture"

Yes i find that production goes up that way

Oh............... Out west we are just not used to an open lifestyle quite like that.

Interesting observation.

What are some of the slang terms, if you recall? Is there a consistency of use of the slang between individuals?


Gem box and panel are two that strike me first.

They cannot find where to size gem boxes, not realizing the boxes are called device boxes.

Panels, they have a hard time locating info, as they usually think they have finally got the NEC when they see Article 408 and cannot find the info they need, because panelboards by the NEC are not panels as used in the field. When I explain and show them Art 312, they get P.O.ed if you know what I mean.

The list goes on...
