I just want to ask if there's any provision or requirement in NEC for the roofing of Substation transformers (outdoor type). We have 3 x 2.5MVA transformers (34.5kV/480V) on closed yard, and still plans to provide roof for safety and security purposes. Addional to this, the x'former cable insulations were fading (chips-in) due to different weather conditions. Please advice if there's any requirement for this. Thanks!

There is no requirement to cover those type of transformers but if they are covered, look out for the type of construction with respect to fire proof and electrical insulation.
