Looking for ideas for monitoring a home's temperature while the house is vacant?

They don't have Internet/wifi at house, just a landline.

Thanks!

my inlaws have a device at their cabin that is basically a mechanical thermostat that triggers a red flashing light that is powered by one of those square lantern batteries. Its probably from the 60's. The idea is you can put it in the window and if the temp drops past the setpoint it goes off and the caretaker/neighbours can make a phone call. Maybe an option if there is something around that passes by and would be willing to take notice of it.

you can buy an alarm dialer.

or just pay an alarm company to add in a temperature monitoring feature to their alarm system.

No phone line...

No phone line...

Talked to the customer today about the suggested products (thanks brantmacga!).
Turns out the vacation home doesn't have a phone line...

She was mentioning that the propane supplier is installing a device that monitors the propane and sends a signal (bounces off a satellite) to let them know when they're low on propane.

Kinda reminds me of the SPOT locator beacons for people who go into the mountains and have a pre-programmed message that can be sent out via text or email to pre-determined recipients to let them know the person needs help (or whatever the message might be).

Anyone know of something that monitors temps or monitors a loss of power, etc, that uses satellite to send a signal out?

Thanks!

Cell service

Cell service

Yes. The area has good cell service coverage.

It also has dish network tv. Just no landline or Internet.
