Many autodialers are capable of calling multiple numbers, and repeatedly until each one is answered.

If you on vacation and the utility goes out how will you know that?

One of my buddies has an electric sump pump and also a water powered back up sump pump. So as long as the towns water supply is there he has back up.

From the OP is this Residential or an Elevator pit per section 620.85 ? I do not do very much residential here in DC....sorry.

That will work in NJ but no where else that follows the 2008 NEC.

Ya'll can talk all around this subject matter, but it is the Code for US,
but it will be what the clients is willing to pay for that would be above Code to US!

What one (installer) might consider when addressing this problem is to at least
put the GFCI in the panel, not everyone has a active basement nor wants to deal with the crawl space!
