Anyone have any pointers to revenue grade meters which are ACTUALLY SunSpec compliant and don't cost an arm and a leg?

Modbus/TCP preferred. Modbus/RTU over RS-485 will suffice, though it needs to supply the initial common block at address 40000 and not just the meter model block.

SunSpec?

SunSpec?

I have worked in metering and PV for years (on the utility side) and am unfamiliar with SunSpec. DO you have a link or can explain?

Comm Std Only

Comm Std Only

Got it, it is a comm std only, not a metering accuracy std. You will need to ping all the meter manufacturers like Itron, GE, ABB, SEL, etc. Do you have a specific meter form in mind? I would expect to pay $1000 for a 3-phase transformer-rated true-RMS revenue-grade meter with advanced communications features.

Bean,

I can find plenty of meters in the $800 to $1,000 range, but the only meter I've seen which actually seems to be SunSpec compliant is from Veris and requires an enenclosure, rather than fitting in a four or five jaw residential base.

I have a really hard time with meter pricing -- it's an electronic device that should be sold by the millions. It seems to me that the vendors are holding the prices up because so many utilities are switching to various forms of smart meters.
