Supply cord for 240V split phase

I already asked and he said no. Well, he said it didn't need a neutral.

Which I took his answer to mean it has no 120 volt loads but doesn't necessarily mean it can't require one of the 240 volt conductors to be grounded like it would be in Australia or European countries.

I've connected European made single phase equipment before that the supplier included a 240 x 240 transformer with grounded two wire secondary to supply their equipment. It may possibly have worked connecting it to the 120/240 supply, but for whatever reason they still wanted it connected with 240 to ground supply system like the machine was designed to work on.
