Supply houses

Wherever they do business, the go by CES. City, Concord, Colorado, whatever.

I but at least half of my material from them. But it is primarily due to my relationship with their branch manager. One of the benefits that they have is that they can carry whatever brands they want. You might find Leviton in one branch and P&S in another. Same with loadcenters, and just about everything else. So another benefit is that if you need something brand specific that your local CES doesn't carry, they can usually get it from another branch. Pricing is another issue. I get pricing that others might not. You do need to keep tabs on that.

I most of my material from five supply houses, and all five of them make mistakes from delivery all they way up to invoicing.

Double billing, misquotes, lying about what is in stock, ect ect they all do it.

If you are not using a PO system then you may want to look in to it, every order should be checked from quote, to PO, to delivery to invoicing.

Rio....the last company I worked for pretty much used CES all the time. He said they treated him great....as for me, I dont care for them. the boss may have saved a few bucks in material, but, they seemed to drop the ball about 60% of the time. either didnt send all the order, or wrong parts. Saving a few bucks on material, and spending more time waiting for correction, or job shut down...doesn't make sense. Nice guys, just not impressed.

I prefer Cost Plus...family owned locally, 3 shops in town. Previous company worked for found them about 7-8 years ago I think. During all these years...they never dropped the ball. Starting in Janurary, they are bringing a website online where you can look up, price, order, etc...
