Supply Issues

We used to have a supply house in Atlanta, DH supply, our salesman was great, but don’t try to get anything the same day! We nicknamed it Don’t Have supply! Graybar is getting real bad at not stocking anything, they have it at the distribution center, but hardly any stock at the branches. Oh! We can have it for you tomorrow is the standard answer, which is fine for new construction, but sucks for service work because a single trip job just turned into a two trip job!
You are so right about Graybar.
They guranteed they would have a suitable # of all the lamps we used. Would order a skid of 4' lamps and were lucky if we got 6 cases a month later. Dumped them before place went dark. When I was younger and did a lot of services always stocked a coil of service cable , panel, meter socket, breakets and fittings just in case supply house was.out of them. Frustating for sure. Once purchased a couple of dozen hi hat rough in. When I went back a few months later to pick up trims was told ooo they are obsolete. Raised so much racket they called around to locate them.

They’ll be swamped with orders trying to beat the increase. It’s a great way to boost first quarter sales!
Price increases go along with death & taxes.
I’ve had a few Garvin catalogs. They have a lot of hard to find stuff. I’ve never seen their products on the shelves though.

Pricey reminds me of a time I did warehouse duty awhile. A guy needed an Appleton brand box cover to replace one in a parking garage. I found it on their website & called every supplier in town. Only 1 place handled the brand. Cover was $17.00.

I went to Graybar some. They were high but used to be well stocked.
Cameron Barkley, Cambar, used to have a store in Raleigh. Our company made a lot of big orders from them, a large truckload to a jobsite. But go there to get domegg to hung in a hurry & they had nothing. They kept very little on the shelves.
