I do have one those glass top ranges at home. Wife will never let us go back to conventional element type, hated cleaning those drip pans underneath and the glass top is easy to keep clean. They are not great to cook on though IMO. Takes forever to bring a pot to boil in comparison to conventional element. If you leave control on high setting to heat something up faster, you really need to watch it. It will take forever to heat up, but if not paying attention it will burn your food items easily once it does get heated up. Problem with this type of top is HI is not indefinite on like it is on conventional element, it still cycles on and off, I suppose to keep the glass top from being overheated and cracking it.
I bet they would be even worse to cook on if supplied with 208 volts.
Nameplate on mine does have rating for both voltages though.
I actually have table top electric skillet I like to cook with, heats faster and actually has a thermostat control so when it reaches setpoint it backs off.
