I am running a feeder veritcally 200ft. that consists of (3) 4" emt with (3) 500mcm + neutral + ground in each conduit. I am looking for a detail or method on how to support the conductors within the conduit to comply with NEC atricle 300.19.

Burndy makes a wedge bushing, the last one I ordered was close to your same scenario 4-500MCM and 1-#2 the part #RS16450S40002A. They are a special order and are $300 each. You will need them no more than every 50'. Sounds like you will need 12 total. Use a large j-box because they are a tough to install. You will have to spread the wires to install the wedge. Also make sure the bushing is on the conduit before you pull through the boxes. You may need to keep the tugger hooked up to keep the wire from falling while you install the wedges. Hope this helps.

Also the bushings are a bit beefy, so if you are coming into the bottom of a panelboard you might want to install an auxilary gutter or somthing.

Thank-you for the information. I just called Burndy and they said there is no such part number. Do you have a distributor who has these or that can order?

We always use these:

Just googled RS16450S40002A and no hits. We have used Kellums on occasion, and never cared for them because, after a short time in hot weather, serious kellum basket depressions occured in the conductor jacket.

Makes a person real goosey when he has to work around old Kellum installs on power cable. Never knew if this was the day you were going to meet that devil.

Maple wedge blocks were the suspension method of choice here. Had a woodworking neighbor who loved to make those maple blocks, cut to my cable . A case of Busch would get me a case of maple blocks in return, two days lead time, maybe longer if the reds were running.

Were they type approved, blessed and certified? Nope.
Did they work? Like a charm.
Should I be embarrassed? Yes, I should.

Did you folks see the evening news last week? Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral, Florida was just 'imploded' into a pile of rubble. So went the evidence of my indiscretion . . .

Best Wishes Everyone.
