We are installing new ceiling wire to support existing 2*4 drop in fixtures and I'm curious if I can use that same wire to also strap existing cable to in the plenum? I don't see anything in 300.11 or 410.16 saying no. Thank you Jason

The way I read 300.11 it says you must use supports in addition to the ceiling grid support wires, and you must secure them at both ends to prevent sway or horizontal movement.

I've never been dinged for using the fixture support wires to support the MC whip. Grid support wires are a different story.

The wire we are installing is a new addition and it will be secured at both ends ie. to the deck and then to the fixture.I'm curious if its not to code to also use the same wire for supporting cables.THX J
