We're going to be hooking up a residential swim spa under the 2011 NEC. It will be outdoors in a ~20'x12' pit with block walls and concrete slab, so water level is at ground level. I intend to run #8 bond wire around perimeter of tub in the slab under the tub as well as around the perimeter of tub at ground level under wood decking (as well as any other metallic equipment). Just curious as to how others see this. Maybe under the decking is overkill.

The perimeter bond is only required 18-24" from the inside edge of the tub and 4-6" below grade. It is not required in the slab if it does not extend out as I stated but it does not hurt to have it.

There is a lot of argument about the perimeter bond under the deck but there is no exception for it so IMO it is required. I have done this and I added the perimeter bond then extended it to the underside of the deck framing.
