I have a customer who is having a swimming pool installed with a "wet niche" light fixture and also wanting another one to light up a custom made "water fall" into the pool. I know the requirements for the "wet niche light", but the other light would be mounted out of the water about 2 feet, to light up the water as it cascades into the pool. She is thinking about using "low voltage" lighting to obtain this, but according to Article 411, low voltage lighting cannot be used within 10 ft. of the inside wall of the pool, unless permitted by Art. 680. So far I have not been able to find it covered in 680. Any suggestions as how to obtain this "effect" the customer wants, and still be by the code? Thanks Steve...

sparkync,

Would a couple more wet niche fixtures get the effect you're after? At least

they would be listed for the use, and dimmers could be used.

If they pick out a fixture that is not listed for pools,CYA,do not wire it.

I'm sure they make fixtures for the use intended, but be prepared to pay

quite a bit of cash for them.

benaround, no I don't think more "in pool lights" are going to do what they want. As far as the money goes, I don't think that is a problem, as long as I can do it "code compliant". I'm trying to get my facts straight before she picks out the lights. I didn't think to tell her about it might not could be done what she wants, according to code, so I need to get it together so I can get back with her. Thanks again for the input. Steve...
