Does the proverbial switch in a bedroom controlling the proverbial load outside the bedroom require AFCI protection. I believe that's what got the ball rolling. :D
That, and
  • whether a dimmer is utilization equipment
  • whether an illuminated switch is utilization equipment
  • whether electronic equipment is utilization equipment
  • where, exactly, the edges of the Premises Wiring (System) are
There's undoubtably more parts to this that I'm overlooking at the moment.

This is a serious question, so don't please don't take it as sarcastic:

What is the real relevance of the "Is a switch and outlet" argument?

I have lost the meaning of this debate. :?
210.12.

Does the proverbial switch in a bedroom controlling the proverbial load outside the bedroom require AFCI protection. I believe that's what got the ball rolling. :D

Are you trying to start another blood bath?

BTW I agree with you.

my original post had to do with the wac washington code. our Class B electrical work allows us to use class B stickers(self inspection in theory) for a single circuit extension of not over 20 amp circuit with no more than 2 outlets. These permits by the way are only supposed to be randomly inspected. A co-worker of mine extended a cicuit which was actually outside the garage at an outside outlet into the garage. He put in a switch and a light off that switch and 0ne outlet. 2 right? nope guess again the wac states that snap swithches are now considered an out let. Seems they are in the 25%. Also this randomness of inspection. Job done on friday inspected on tuesday. I ve done 5 class B permit stickers and 4 of the 5 were inspected and not sure if the 5th may have been. mine all passed but random????? I think not. We are probably going to not use them any more because of the tight restrictions and unrandomness of inspection. You see if you get inspected and a correction is written they charge you the trip charge of 35$ plus you then also have to pull a regular permit for in 48.10. so the 10 sticker just cost you 93.10 and if youve only charged your customer the original 10 and of course the correction is yous youve just eaten 83.10 and the labor cost of fixing the "problem". One inslector has made the comment that he doesnt like these permits as he "cannot make any money on the". Dont know where that comment comes from . Maybe he gets a commision for every correction he writes??? frustrating.
