It's definitely before 2000. Seems to me I saw them in the wild in the mid to late '80s.I was looking into the history of this device. I would like to know when they were first available to the consumer, was it before 2000 or after?
That P&S device is a pretty thing.Anyone recall when the switch/ GFCI combo device came on the market and was readily available to consummers?
Dennis,That P&S device is a pretty thing.
The first ones I ever saw, the ones I recall from the '80s were made by SquareD, as I recall.
I live a sheltered life, I guess.
Pass and Seymour makes them also although I also have never used them.
Is this switch/receptacle required to be installed in any particular orientation?
With the front facing out of the box is usually a good orientation.
Take a good look at both switches...

. Now, on the P&S model the toggle switch would be "upside down" depending on how you orient it but I don't see a big deal as that toggle switch does not appear to be indicating.
