I assume you are bidding this job ....your switchgear rep (SqD, Eaton, etc), has the bill of material that has all detail, sections, dimensions.

There is no magic wand for this one. What I do is twofold:

Mostly I look at the floor plan and whatever the EE draws I take off, figure a single section is 36 wide (they could be 42 and a pull section could be 24) And I measure the footprint. The other thing is I rely on experience. As I and others have said before, it is an estimate. If they expected it to be perfect, they would call it an exactimate. I've had 40 hours in an estimate and needed more like 80 to put the gear together and vice versa. With gear that size, you will lose it or make it up somewhere else.
