Switching derated circuits , wire size.

If I have 6 cccs in a conduit on 20a breakers. The wire size has been increased from 12 awg to 10awg for derating puposes. Now I want to add a junction box and switches.. If the switches are less than 24 in away from the junction box, do I need to carry the 10 awg to the switches too or will 12 awg suffice

What other derating details are there, aka temperature? Why was number ,10 wire used in the first place. Off hand 6 CCC is okay for 12 awg assuming THHN is used.

6 CCC requires an 80% adj factor
You are allowed to use the 90° column for adj
12 AWG (assuming THWN) is good for 30A
30A x 80% = 24A
#12 good and no #10 needed

Like the others, I'm not sure why you are derating. But to directly answer your question, if derating were to apply, a switch loop of less than 24" would not require derating as nipples less that 24" are exempt from derating.
 
As the others have stated #10 AWG wasn't even required for derating with only 6 CCC's and a 20 amp OCPD's.
 
Thish is not a house it is commercial 3 phase wye. Sorry for not clarifying.
I think Bill was just using the house as an example of some typical 12AWG branch circuits with 20A OCP. The fact that it's commercial doesn't alter the electrical properties of the wire, nor the NEC requirements for derating.

But it appears that you're confusing voltage drop conductor upsizing for conductor derating (derating is only due to the number of CCC's in a raceway and irrespective of branch circuit length beyond 24"). If you are asking about voltage drop, you haven't provided enough information for us to address that.

No it would not be required. To your initial question about adding a junction box and feeding the switches if your nipple length is 24" or less then no derating would need to be applied so you could use #12 AWG conductors in that nipple. Even if the nipple were longer than 24" section 310.15(A)(2)Exception may apply and derating still would not be required.

310.15(A)(2) Selection of Ampacity.
Where more than one ampacity applies for a given circuit length, the lowest value shall be used.
Exception: Where different ampacities apply to portions of a circuit, the higher ampacity shall be permitted to be used if the total portion(s) of the circuit with lower ampacity does not exceed the lesser of 3.0 m (10 ft) or 10 percent of the total circuit.
