Is there a code section where t-stat wire need to be splice a specific way( in a box ) or can I just use wire nuts on the splice , your information is appreciated , Thank You.

Not sure of your situation but t stat's are often just spliced. Now if you are in a plenum it may change what you can do. But generally there should be no issue.
