Tapping off of Disco.

I have a set of feeders going from one building to another. The feeder goes into a fused disco and the disco feeds a step down x-former which feeds a main breaker for that building.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how the code might address tapping off the feeders to the disco in the disco enclosure.:-?

The customer wants me to tap off the disco and feed another disco placed directly next to the first one.

FYI, loading is not an issue, and all will be appropriately protected (OCPD, SCPD).

Opinions are welcome, however I'm really looking for code references.

Thanks

As long as you have the gutter space, go for it. Just don't double taps the lugs unless they're rated for it (highly doubt it).

Thanks. The way I read the code, It says that the wires can't take up more than 40% and wires+splice can't take up more than 70% of the cross section.

Right, which is pretty much impossible to exceed. If they'll physically fit, chances are excellent that you have not exceeded the fill limits. Just pick something compact like a Polaris/NSI bug to make the tap for a neat job.

Marc,
I appreciate the advise. Would anybody have code references that say this is not an acceptable practice?
