Taps to Supplemental grounding electrode conductor

Situation: Multiple 400 amp service disconnects in close proximity. A supplemental grounding electrode is driven per 250,53(E), A number #6 grounding electrode is run from service disconnect #1. Individual #6 conductors are run from service disconnects #2, 3 and 4 and tapped to the conductor from #1. Is this code compliant?

I'd say yes, and those taps on panels 2-4 were unnecessary. This is contingent, though, on the neutral to panels 1-4 being sized per 250.66 or larger.

Is there another GEC somewhere else to something requiring a larger GEC, such as a water pipe or structural steel?

The conductor from the supplemental grounding electrode is not required to be installed to all of the disconnects, although if you would like to, you are permitted to.

The conductor from thesupplemental grounding electrode is permitted to be bonded to the:
1. Grounding Electrode Conductor
2. Grounded Service-entrance Conductor (neutral)
3. Nonflexible grounded service raceway
4. Any Grounded service enclosure

Because it is permitted to be bonded, it is not required to be of an exothermic connection (such as Cadweld) or an irreversible connection (such as a crimp type connection)
