The National Do Not Call Registry really does seem to help, and it's very easy to list several phone numbers. I no longer get the kinds of calls you're describing, but the politicians did make exemptions for themselves and some charities. Sign up here:

Quote from https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx "The National Do Not Call Registry is open for business, putting consumers in charge of the telemarketing calls they get at home."

As stated this is a list to not get telemarketing calls at home. If you have a business call that makes you fair game.

I made the mistake of signing up for lendingtree.com that web site where lenders will call within an hour to fight with themselves over giving me the best rate on my mortgage. That was over 4 1/2 years ago. I had to hang up on another 1 last night. It is nothing but a lead service and they are still selling my info. The refi I did was not from anyone that called me from there. I used to try to get contact info from them to report them. Some of them were obviously not in this country and would tell me their name was Steve also. Anymore when someone asks for me by name I ask who I'm speaking with and they say anything about finance or mortgage I hang the phone up. The other big 1 is phone service. Can I speak with who is in charge of the phone service. You have him, we aren't interested. You don't want to save money. No Well you should listen to..click

You may be right, but I can't find anything on the DoNotCall site that indicates that business phone numbers can't be placed on the registry or that they will be filtered out of the registry. It's evident from the above posts that business owners hate getting these calls at work as much as they do while at home. I would encourage all of you to register your business numbers on the do not call list.

Another issue is that so many have registered, it leaves slim pickins for the telemarketers, so those who haven't are getting the full court press.

Oh man. Tools, insurance, phones, office supplies, investment opportunities, charities- anything and everything. I hate thes calls with a passion.
I think that sawzall blade, tape and wire tie outfit is California Contractor Supply and they have these jackassed salesmen brainwashed to spout the same, lame long lost buddy routine.
