Is it a requirement to follow the table 1 ANSI/TIA-607-B to size the telecom backboard riser conductor? I have always run no larger than 3/0, but are being told we have to follow that table for this project. That means we have to run a 750MCM copper up the building (42 stories).

Sounds like a project spec's question, not a NEC one. If the spec's say run 750 up the building, charge for it (but maybe offer a "value engineered" option with 3/0).

This is also an RFI to the relevant engineers/project planners.

Maybe there were, but to me that no longer passes the sniff test- little actual telecom is over copper outside plant, or even non-isolated copper at all, so the idea of a massive telecom grounding systems don't make much sense.

Wow I think the largest I have ever been asked run is a #2, whats the rationale behind that?
