I was told to install 5 - 400W Temp lights on what I thought was a 20a ckt....Then was told to add a 6th light putting me at 2400W .....The 5 is over 80% by a little and 6 lights is 100%..for continous duty.....The next thing that was told to me was "That is OK we put in 30 amp breakers It will be fine those wires are in free air"........Is there any validity to that statement?

What size and type of wire?

I would think not.

Get scared i have seen 30 amp breakers on 12-2 romex for temp lights. Foreman wouldn't let me fix till the 30 started triping. That wire was geting very warm. It's fullish to be risking a fire over this. Care to exsplain to your insurance company.

Please tell me you are joking. I know it's after April fools day but........

No not at all.....I am working for a new company doing different installations that are new to me....I questioned this when told, however I assumed my foreman knew what they were talking about....
