I have installed temporary lighting on 2 christmas tree lots and did this as per NEC 590 Temporary installations.I sailed thru plan review, passed my inspection only to have another inspector show up 1 hr. later and fail the same job, saying that the work should have been installed according to NEC Article 525-Carnivals,Circuses,Fairs and Similar Events.I cannot see how a retail christmas tree lot could in any way be "similar" to a Carnival,Circus,or Fair, this lighting system is TEMPORARY and is only being used 24 days a year. This has not only caused an embarrassing situation, but has also cost my customer 2 days of sales. The best the building dept. could come up with is AHJ,while I usually agree with AHJ I don't believe it was designed to be used in lieu of a good answer.Any input would be helpful. Thanks
