Hi everyone. I did some searching on this and found some related threads but would like some feedback on my own specific scenario.
I have a single family dwelling that is having the entire outside redone(windows, siding, soffits, everything). The contractor predicts 3 weeks for the work. The homeowners want to be able to use the home for the entire duration because it is peak summer and it is their summer home.
My scope of work is preparing all outside electrical outlets for siding and upgrading service from 100A to 200A. The temporary service is being installed so that all existing holes for current 100A service will be filled and covered, and the area will be prepared for new 200A service.
My question is in regards to refeeding the home off the temporary service. I would like to do a 200A temporary service and refeed the home on a 100A breaker turning the main panel into a sub panel and splitting grounds and neutrals there. I don't know how I can do this however without putting the entire home on a GFCI. 590.6(A)(2) requires all receptacle outlets existing or installed as permanent wiring to be GFCI. I don't even know if I have ever seen a 100A GFCI. If no 100A GFCI, I would go with a 60A GFCI. This would conflict with GFCI receptacles in baths and kitchens so I would have to do some manipulating to solve this.
Next option is to use 100A regular breaker and change all branch breakers feeding 125V single phase 15 20 30A receptacles to GFCI.
Any other options available? Has anyone run into this before? How have you solved it?
Thanks for the help.
