Are there any laws that apply to how a landlord can charge a tenant for their portion of their electricity use in MA?
I know of a commercial tenant that has a landlord that is trying to charge them for power usage for the last 5 years.
The landlord does not have any documentation as to how much power has been used by the tenant and there has never been any Emon Demon meters set up on the tenants power.
From what I remember, the landlord cannot charge a tenant for power usage unless they have a meter reading and can only charge what they were charged from the power company and cannot make a profit.
