Terminating a raceway

I have a 6-3 UF cable in a PVC conduit running in to a garage. It will be difficult to complete the run of the conduit to the panel. Can I just secure the cable to framing and use putty to close off the conduit?

Apparently yes. That was the conclusion in a thread about pretty much the same thing a couple of weeks ago questioning the practice used in a This Old House episode.

It's a popular method and some plan it that way on purpose.

We usually only do something like that if the UF cable is high enough above grade to prevent possible future damage.
