After the 9/11 attacks, a common phrase was said that applies to all the people who protect our freedoms. Whether they be soldiers, doctors, nurses, police, firefighters, general public. "All gave some, Some gave all". A special thanks and remeberance to all those who protect and serve in their own fashion

My highest respect for all that have served. Thank you for all the large and small sacrifices you have made.
My Dad was USMC 1944-1947, luckily for me he made it through.
For those that remember Bennie he was also USMC.

I just looked Bennie up and he is still in the top 10 with the number of posts he made. You know, I still miss him and his unique point of view.

I remeber growing up in my Fathers home,he served on ship in the Navy in the South Pacific in WWII.He never commented much into the serving.But had an old cigar box with a few metal ribbons inside, a scrapebook with old war clipping,and a japanese sword he kept in his closet.But he never really talked about his experiances,over there..
When he passed away,years later my younger brother wrote the Government,inquiring into my Dad's service.My younger brother received back some paperwork,along with Six(6)Metals that my father was awarded and I guess Dad, never even knew or cared to look intne of these Metals,was the Purple Heart.
What happen to him over there in the South Pacific,he never did tell his children, never told his wife about(Mom).He took it, with him..
What he did bring back,disipline..I never addressed him, as anything other than sir..
You gentlemen that have served,you deserve all the respect this Country and its citizens have to offer.(Bar-none)
I never served in our Military,and might not be aware in fact if you did either,in many passing conversations.But I will pay you this same respect that he brought home from the service, and distilled in me.

I will be part of the Memorial Day services on monday. It is a shame that the day has lost its true meaning. It has become a day to party & have store sales.

"WE ARE A UNITED STATES AIR FORCE FAMILY"
I usaf active May 1953 to Sept 1966
USAF Resrves flying hospital 1974 thru 1989.
Met my wife (MY BOSS) I was the Sgt she was the flight nurse she is retired usaf reserve 2 wars deserts storm and Iraq Freedom
Oldest son Jeffery Dean is retired usaf 20 years stationed at Andrews AFB Md the entire time
We ( My wife and I ) flew patients in gave them to him we then flew on to other areas we taught the active duty folks the art of AEROMEDICAL EVACUATION Flying.We were affectioately called air force reserve bums cause we flew so much.
On average we were able to effect our plan:
From being wounded to home in 10 days or less.By home we mean the closest military hospital to the place you enlisted at.
Over 4500 hours flying time and never lost a soul
GOD BLESS THE USA We taught the active duty folks the art of AEROMEDICAL EVACUATION FLYING

I am not allowed to do any of that because I am not medically qualified for commission or enlistment. The reason why is that I am part of the 10% of the population that has ankylosing spondylitis, which is one of the few forms of arthritis that has been shown to be inherited. This form of arthritis invariably strikes between athe ages of 3 and 23 years of age. All it really means is that I cannot do Olympic class weightlifting.
Since I am not allowed to get a million dollars in training from the U.S. military I live in dire poverty. I just cannot compete against the perceived superiority of military training. Since I am not allowed to defend freedom I have no economic freedom. As long as Uncle Sam feeds the bears the bears will expect haute cuisine and I am not haute cuisine.
The U.S. military has been the sole source ( for practical purposes ) of apprenticeships in the electrical business from about 1978 to about 2000.
There are about 29 states in the U.S. where I have to prove that I have no need to work there in order to get a state license to work there. Michigan will not let me work there because I am from out of state. Fascism is alive and well in this country.
I know that you may think that I am being crabby about this but I am flat-as-a-dead-snake broke because I have no way of competing. Just because I cannot volunteer to get my rear end shot off.

I would like to give a special thanks to the 101st Airborne out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky. My best friend since the age of 5 is preparing for his third trip to Iraq. While serving in Afganistan, he missed the birth of his first child and now he may miss the birth of his second. And not because he has to, but because he has to. If you know what I mean. He will be 28 yrs old next month.

mc5w, I taught third year apprentice electricians for eight years and they all worked for electrical contractors. I am sorry, but I don't have a clue where you are coming form.
