I love my tools. Some are very old friends that have served me well for years, but a new tool , even if its just a screw driver, can get me exited about going to work.

Ready: our apprentice forgot his tools today. So he took my tools which I allowed in the past.

I am sure everyone has had this happen before... but probably not many times. [which sounds like this guy has done it a few times in the past]
I can understand it oncew in a blue moon... say you get off work friday, take toolbag out to do some stuff on the house over the weekend, end up not doing anything and forgetting you took your bag out. early monday morning comes... you get to the jobsite half asleep and realize - OH !@#$

Yeah, Im guilty of it.. and it happened just like that story

My tools are very important to me.... without them: I dont make money!

I thought thread cutting oil has a high sulphur content - certaintly nothing like auto engine oil. My understanding is lube oil will dull/overheat a cutter.

Then again could be that lubricating oil trashing the tap is better than using dry and breaking the tap.

Next time you fry a slab of bacon collect the grease...it's great as tap, die or hole saw lube:D

Only problem is it will make you hungry:D

It was a tap tool. It wasnt a pleasent couple of minutes. But i just smiled and said "are done whining" you have a 3 floor house, 2 cars and 3 boats your obviously doing very well to be whining over a hand tool....It woulda been nice to say all that but i didnt.

I think I worked for that guy once! Want my advice? Find better pastures when the economy turns around as there are good people to work for who don't buy all of their tools at Harbour Freight and replace them as they get broken.. HB

As an employee I expect my boss to judge me by using past performance and intentions when deciding on how to deal with an issue.
Problem- Forgot to label a panel -
Is leaving a jobsite before the job is really done happening more latley?
He has to go back- Do I make him eat it on his own time? - Is he stingy with his time card, always rounding up, charging for every trip to the wholesalers, taking a full parked 30minute lunch regardless of the days job and travel circumstances or is he willing to eat on the fly if it's a busy day?

Everybody breaks stuff, everybody forgets stuff, human life happens every day. Employing and being employed is a two way relationship.
The boss risks his business' and really his own reputation by allowing an employee out there representing him
The employee does a good job and expects to be treated fairly in the same way.
