anybody know an easier way to do this?

again pge suggests a strange place to locate the meter mains.
only acceptable place is recessed in stucco in location with 36" of working clearances
so the meter glass needs to be inside =)
AHJ is ok w location [altho he said it is b*ll]
, pge as well
last time I recessed a meter main combo in stucco it was a lot of carpenter work
because the overhead feed has to come in behind the plane of the stud wall
  • cut stud
  • king studs
  • header
  • flashing / waterproofing
  • make a door.
Last time i did it, the requirement was for a 3' opening.
Unreal!

What is size required for the opening by NEC?
is it indoor or outdoor clearances?
I can get a 200a solar ready panel that is 14.5 wide

if the whole meter main is behind the stucco you would need a
door that is 30" wide by 6' or 6'-6"
down to the floor
depending if you consider it
indoor or outdoor dimensions

but in 2015 they just required me to show only the panel height
but I should've really just flush mounted it, but client wanted it disappeared
and even if you flush mount it, there is still that tricky offset in 2" RMC that has to offset 8" in a very short run unless you have some sort of pull box

or is it not compliant to recess the meter main in the stucco
but they let you do it? cause muh, common sense, always been done like that, nothin wrong widit

its in a single stud bay here but I guess they are on 24" centers

I want to do as little carpentry as possible, but the meter has to move and
the only agreeable place is recessed in the stucco with
36" from the stucco to the wall.

I can find the solar ready meter main at 14.5" width
I can see if the flanges are removeable,
but it looks like the door needs to be 30" wide anyway
if the glass is behind the stucco
so a stud has to come out

If the glass could be sticking out and the door was flush with the surface, just wedge it in there
