To whom it may concern, I have been wondering now because of the state of the economy does anyone have any idea where the electrical industry is heading? I work mostly high end residential in the boston area and I dont see alot of new additions, new kitchens etc ,etc. what about solar. clean energy etc, etc or should I go back to school for the medical field or teaching or maybe a machanic who knows? Are there any states that are growing? I got an offer for the Houston Texas area the seem to be desperate for romex jockies, whats up with that. Any input will help THANKS ,BOND.

I don't think Houston will ever stop growing.

In this area, residential has slowed to a crawl. Commercial is going strong. Industrial hasn't slowed down for years what with Dow and Exxon and the like right in our back yard

If I had a crystal ball I'd have retired long ago.

I know many of you can't fathom this, but what would you do if you were retired for over two months? I know Brian would be in his kayak, but what about the rest of you? Could any of you just quit the field and sell all of your tools and never look back???? Don't BS me, I know darned well you'd really miss it:cool:
Give me an honest answer.

People have gotten through hard times in the past and they will get through these as well. I know the world is probably much crazier than it's ever been, but even so look at all the hardships people faced in the past before all this modern technology and they still managed to survive just fine. I have no concerns about about this....life will go on.

Trucks pulling REALLY long trailers, loaded with these wind engergy prop wings go up our hiway EVERY DAY, and I mean alot of them. They are installing a big field of them up up in Kansas somewhere...

I really wish the the US could less dependant upon foreign oil, I just dont like it......I dont like having to purchase oil from someone whom might shoot at us the next day, if they took a notion to.

I believe if America really gets serious about these issues and creates change, in the long run electricians are going to be in HUGE demand...

Gas drillers moving into our area. Marcellus shale seems to be a big hit around here. Supposedly will create thousands of jobs. Landowners making some decent money off of the contracts hope it all works out. The food manufacturing plant I work for is doing quite well running production 6 days a week and that means I work 7. When the economy slows and times get tough we seem to take off. Not to mention there have been many experiments with hydrogen!!
