I use my hand to get them into place, then the linemans or needlenose to pinch them over, after bending them in by hand. is that more clear?:grin: (no, you can't really grab them with linemans because of the gap there, which I guess is what you're pointing out?)

They probably just use the pliers to slip them into place and bend them with their fingers.
IMO, the only kind of metal cut in box that doesn't suck is the one with the ears in the opposite corners kind of like the plastic cut ins. They have clamps designed for MC. No one stocks them, they are expensive, and I can't find a pic.
Used these for years and the tab hardware always seemed to be in the way.

i use those metal o/w boxes that started this thread all the time. i've had no problems cutting the hole or getting the plate to fit. its nice that they're gangable also.

I can also be pretty good at doing the folding by hand... Heavy thumb pressure close to the closest to wall part. If you do it too far out the strap arches and is springy inside the box.

Not only are the gangable, but you cut a smaller hole than if you were using plastic old work boxes. I big plus when dealing will plaster walls that like to crack. Less of a chance the plate won't cover the hole. Metal boxes and Madison bars.....:smile:
