THHN #6 stranded for GEC to ground rods...

I used stranded once. All the strands spread out when I tightened the acorn, and only half the strands were actually making contact.

For me, solid just works easier
I always used these or similar when I was wiring houses.

More specifics, please.
Looked like MC anyhow, could of been AC. Probably not even attached to anything anymore though because the lodge has an updated service. Unless it goes to something else.
If my memory serves me correct I believe it was around 3C #12 to a pipe in the earth.

Just Caldwell it. No chance of ground connection issues.

I use stranded GEC and a one-shot.

Has anyone here used the Hammerlock connection? I’ve been meaning to order some. Seems like a good product.

Copper is very durable stuff. Around here, the power company uses uncovered concentric neutral primary cable, directly buried. The concentric neutral, IIRC, is 10 number 14 wires bare, just sitting in the dirt (well sand because they require 6 inches of sand below and above). kind of freaked me out at first but I guess it lasts a long long time.
Even today? I have dug this stuff up with all the strands so brittle and breaking there isn’t a primary neutral left.
We haven’t buried CN cable in 30+ years.

most the underground primary around here that is maybe 40 years or older is exposed concentric neutral, direct buried.

Exposed neutral only or you don't use CN at all for last 30 years or so? Here it has been CN with an outer covering for 30+ years. Before then they had exposed concentric neutral.

Exposed neutral is CN cable.
JCN is Jacketed Concentric Neutral
We have only used JCN cable over the last 30 years

This job I looked at was a house that was built in around 1999. I was surprised too I didn't think anybody used uncovered CN anymore. It was definitely uncovered, unless they stripped the jacket off all the way down to the bottom of the vault.

Many years ago CP&L specs used to call for the jacket to be stripped back to 6” above grade in transformers and vaults.
I don’t think anyone actually does that.
